Mark Millar is very excited about the sequel as Kick-Ass ended on a cliffhanger and he always wanted to make a sequel. The Kick-Ass movie was very successful financially (it was made for 28 million dollars, made 100 million theatrically and 140 million on DVD) so a sequel was always going to be made. Mark always expected Kick-Ass to be successful and it was the 2nd most illegally-downloaded movie in 2010 and the 7th most illegally-downloaded movie of all time, so Mark expects Kick-Ass 2 will explode when it's released.
Matthew Vaughn has been a long-time admirer of Jeff Wadlow who was handpicked as director for Kick-Ass 2 18 months ago. The screenplay was started about 8 months ago and finished about 2 months ago with the approval of Universal. Mark Millar passed down the comic strips to Jeff who has kept about 80% of the comic in the movie, so it's a clear adaptation of the comic book, and Mark expects he'll like the movie even better than the comic!
Mark Millar explains how they hope to get Chloe Moretz, Aaron Johnson and Christopher Mintz-Plasse back for Kick-Ass 2 although he can't confirm this yet. Mark expects there will be 2 new roles in Kick-Ass 2. Nicolas Cage won't appear as he died in the first movie, but there is a new character The Colonel, an older man who starts a Neighbourhood Watch group of people dressed up as superheroes patrolling a part of New York, which is already happening in real life, with about 150 people already doing this in New York, and there may be a second character Night-Bitch. Mark Millar loves seeing his characters walking around when people wear their costumes and seeing ads for his films on buses where he lives.
Kick-Ass 2 will also end on a cliffhanger so there will be a Kick-Ass 3 and Mark Millar explains how he expects it will be like the Star Wars trilogy. In the first movie, all the characters are set up, the second movie goes very dark, the third one will come to a resolution. By the end of the trilogy, the Kick-Ass character Hit-Girl is quite different in the same way that Luke Skywalker evolves through the Star Wars trilogy.

Sports and movie fans, you have a new way to stream content, and its name is Now TV.
The Internet service from BSkyB aims to go up against services like Netflix, initially offering 11 different channels and 600 movies for streaming on Androids, iPhones, and other devices. Also included: Plenty of goods from Sky Sports, including soccer, cricket, rugby, and golf. Now TV will allow users to pay for single items or pony up a monthly fee, and company representatives say they hope to draw in new customers that aren't familiar with the British broadcasting network.
Of course, the company's monthly fee, at around $23, is much more expensive than that of Netflix. But even with tough competition—something BSkyB isn't used to considering the company's virtual monopoly of content across the pond—executives at the Murdoch-affiliated company are likely just happy to be in the headlines for something other than a hacking scandal.

23-year-old Shania Li was sitting in front of her computer when she got the news.
[Shania Li, Daughter of Kidnapped Falun Gong Practitioner]:
"I got a message from my dad saying that my mom had been kidnapped."
Shania is a grad student in New York. Her mom, Lei Zuying, is back home in Wuhan, China. On June 6th, local authorities took Lei to a brainwashing center. That's because she practices Falun Gong, a traditional Chinese spiritual discipline.
[Shania Li, Daughter of Kidnapped Falun Gong Practitioner]:
"I've heard about the cruelties that go on in these brainwashing centers. Both the physical and mental torture."
And it's not the first time Shania's mom has been taken there. The Chinese Communist Party began a nationwide crackdown on Falun Gong 13 years ago. Since then, authorities have detained Lei four times—trying to make her give up the practice.
In 2004, she went on a hunger strike—and nearly died from torture.
[Shania Li, Daughter of Kidnapped Falun Gong Practitioner]:
"Those who took part in the force feeding had no medical background...It was very dangerous and she nearly choked from the liquid food."
Shania is determined to free her mom. She's been making calls to Wuhan, trying to appeal to the officials who detained her mom. She says it's hard to take legal action, because there's no due process.
[Shania Li, Daughter of Kidnapped Falun Gong Practitioner]:
"It's completely baseless, they'll create a nominal reason, and kidnap you while you're out [of the house]...this time she was taken from work. They don't issue any documentation, and only call the family later to say she has been kidnapped, and to bring her personal items."
Shania, who also practices Falun Gong, hopes her mother can join her in the U.S.
[Shania Li, Daughter of Kidnapped Falun Gong Practitioner]:
"It was hard for me to go abroad. It was what my mother wished for. I remember when I told her I arrived safely in New York....She was brought to tears...Because she's not free in China, but I am here now because of a lot of help she gave me, so now when she needs me the most, I have to help her, too."
Shania also emphasized that her mom's case is just one of thousands. But most Falun Gong practitioners who are wrongfully detained don't have someone like Shania to tell their story.

And up next we travel to New York City, where people said goodbye to the year of the rabbit. As our correspondent reports, it's become one of the biggest events in Manhattan's Chinatown.
In New York's Chinatown, Chinese New Year is one of the biggest celebrations of the year.
Yesterday was the final day of the year of the rabbit. We took a look around the Museum of Chinese in America—or MOCA as it's known locally.
Tour groups were heading out through Chinatown, hearing how the now-famous district started out, and how today it is divided into different regions.
Inside MOCA, patrons were checking out some traditional Chinese art forms.
[Mr. S.W. Sang, Chinese Culture Art Association Chair]:
"I hope in the coming year of the dragon to bring all the happy, healthy to the whole world."
Originally from Guangzhou, Mr. Guan Ziyuan has been a calligraphy artist for the past 10 years. He has five Western students learning the art. He hopes the people he came into contact with today will take away a special message from Chinese culture.
[Mr. Guan Ziyuan, Calligraphy Artist]:
"Our Chinese culture more than 5000 years' history. If you want to pass this culture down to westerners, we definitely have to use Chinese characters to express it. So I write calligraphy—pass this calligraphy to Westerners."
For families it was a good opportunity to learn more about Chinese culture. Like little Mikko and her mom, who watched the dancing.

From last night, young children started receiving their red New Year envelopes filled with money. Here at MOCA, kids were given chocolate-filled envelopes. Some spoiling their dinners with it!

January 27th marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, the notorious Nazi concentration camp, and world Holocaust Remembrance day. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon joins worshipers at a synagogue in New York City to commemorate the anniversary.
In New York City even the falling snow and biting cold couldn't challenge the will to remember—to remember the Holocaust, one of the biggest tragedies in modern history.
From 1933 to 1945 Adolf Hitler led the killing of one third of the Jews living in Europe—around 6 million people. Most of them were put to death in gas chambers at a network of concentration camps. The most infamous of those camps was Auschwitz.
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon joined worshipers and over 50 ambassadors to commemorate the 67th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and world Holocaust Remembrance Day at New York's Park East Synagogue.
[Ban Ki-Moon, UN Secretary General]:
"The United Nations is strongly committed to prevent any such horrible things happening over and over again. That is why the United Nations General Assembly, in 2005, adopted a resolution and designated January 27th as international day of remembrance of the Holocaust."
Ban Ki-Moon has attended the Synagogue every year since 2005

"Because today is the Sabbath, Jewish law prohibits us from taking cameras into the Synagogue, but I did go in and speak to one holocaust survivor."
Moritz Goldfeier was just 15 years old when the Nazis sent him to Auschwitz along with his mother and two siblings. Moritz was lucky, he spent just two weeks in the camp before being transferred to a labor camp in Finland. During his brief time in Auschwitz, the gas chambers were out of order. The camp in Finland was later liberated by the Russians, but Moritz never saw his family members again.
I asked Ban Ki-Moon why remembering stories like these is important for UN member states across the world.
[Ban Ki-Moon, UN Secretary General]:
"We have to do all we can to bring peace, and tolerance, and security, and dignity to all the people regardless of religious faith, ethnicities and races."

Gaming News - Crysis 3 Official Gameplay - E3 2012 Reveal
Electronic Arts has taken the wraps off of the hands-on gameplay for Crysis 3, and it looks marvelous. The first-person shooter is the third in developer Crytek's series that debuted in 2007 with Crysis and returned in 2011 with Crysis 2.
Crytek just can't stay out of the jungle. When it created Far Cry back in 2004, that game was set in the jungles of a beautiful tropical island. The graphics of the trees, fauna, and water were amazing for that time. Crysis and its ancillary game Crysis Warhead were also set in the jungle. But Crysis 2 took the firefights into Manhattan. Now, with the CryEngine 3, the Crytek team is bringing the jungle back, by putting it inside Manhattan.
Crytek and EA are hoping that that formula will keep this video game franchise in the upper echelons of the of multibillion-dollar FPS market. EA is revealing more of the gameplay today at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the game industry's big trade show, in Los Angeles, Calif.
You might say it's a funny way to show off the developer's talent for creating rainforest 3D graphics. They're twisting the story so that the odd mixture of jungle and skyscrapers makes sense. This tale is set in 2047, or 24 years after the events of Crysis 2, and the plot isn't easy to follow. The hero is Laurence "Prophet" Barnes, a Delta Force major who appeared in the first two games. He actually killed himself in the second title and is now back as a revived memory — a separate consciousness inside your high-tech Nanosuit. Now, he wants revenge in the overgrown canyons of New York City.
Prophet is wearing the same cool Nanosuit that integrates into his body and gives him superhuman powers. In the past couple of games, the alien forces wanted to get their hands on that Nanosuit and hunted its wearer. But this time, Prophet is doing the hunting. He's got a huge high-tech bow with flaming, explosive or razor-sharp arrows. I was able to play a full level hands-on and get a feel for what it's like to be an invincible hunter.

New York City police are investigating death threats made against staff through the phone and on twitter. This after officers forcibly arrested more than 70 people during an Occupy Wall Street protest. Since the start of the movement, nationwide protests have faced numerous cases of police brutality with batons and tear gas often used to disperse crowds. BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The FBI now believes an arson fire in Buffalo's Old First Ward may have been a hate crime. Upon hearing the news the fiery crime may be rooted in racism, a neighbor gave a stunning reaction.
As you read through the story, know you may find some of the statements offensive.
Federal prosecutors stop short of calling this a hate crime, but continue to look for evidence to prove it as such. They have been investigating the Mackinaw Street fire for more than a year.
"The property owner and the victim was a refugee that had fled oppression and had immigrated to the United States in pursuit of the American dream," said Frank Christiano, Resident Agent in Charge of the ATF.
Fifty-eight-year-old Michael Fijal of Buffalo was charged with arson and is awaiting trial. Prosecutors say he paid someone to purposely set the empty building on fire. The blaze was so intense, it damaged the home next door.
Now authorities say they're looking for more evidence to prove race may have been a motivating factor. The FBI is offering a reward to anyone who can help with further information, leading to an arrest of the person who burned the house down.
FBI Special Agent Christopher Piehota said, "The elements of the case indicate there may be a hate crime motivated incident and we want to get to the bottom of it."
We wanted to know if residents believed race played a role in the crime. One neighbor, working on repairing a home damaged in last year's fire, had some comments that may shock you.
"I think that if people just stayed on their own side of town in their own neighborhood that things like that wouldn't happen," the man said. "Every race and color has their own section of Buffalo, so if they just stay in their own neighborhood, things like this wouldn't happen."
He's has lived in the Old First Ward for more than 30 years.
The man stated, "People in these neighborhoods don't want those type of people moving down here and destroying the property value. So when things like that happen, it shouldn't such a shock."
We asked the man what he meant by "those types of people." He responded: "Minorities. African Americans."
We asked the man why he holds these opinions.
He answered, "Because I own a home and I see what happens when they move into the neighborhood. Property value goes down, kids on the corner, crime goes up. The east side used to be a beautiful place; look what they did to that."
But not everyone felt the same way. One woman who moved to the area right before last year's fire said she was disappointed to learn the crime could be racially motivated.
"It seemed like this was their dream. They came here I think from the Congo probably to have a better life, and this is what they have now," she said.
Despite the mix of opinion, the man stands by his assertion. We asked the resident if he thinks there's anything wrong with what he had said.
"I don't feel there's anything wrong with it. A lot of people would feel wrong about it, but I don't."
If you have information for officials, you can call the FBI at 856-7800 or the ATF at 853-5070. The FBI is offering $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Six US soldiers killed in IED blast 09.07.12
Six American soldiers have been killed by a roadside bomb in eastern Afghanistan.
It is reported that their tank ran over the device at around 8pm yesterday evening in Wardak province, south of Kabul.
NATO has not disclosed the nationalities of the service members killed, but Afghan officials have confirmed they were American.
Wardak provincial police chief General Abdul Qayum Baqizoi said that after the blast in Jalrez district, a coalition air strike killed a local Taliban commander and injured three insurgents.
The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack.

'Today' Co-Host Ann Curry Will Bid Farewell Today
Ann Curry's voice chokes when she talks about saying goodbye this morning on NBC's Today show, years earlier than she had hoped.It's "going to be a bit of a tough day," she told USA TODAY in a 40-minute phone interview Wednesday, sounding as though she were fighting back tears. "I'm going to have to tell our viewers. That's what makes me more emotional than anything. I don't want to leave them. I love them. And I will really miss them."
After a year as co-host, and days of fevered speculation about her future, Curry steps down today from the high-profile post held in the past by the likes of Jane Pauley and Katie Couric.Instead, Curry's new multiyear contract with NBC has her leading a seven-person unit with a ticket to cover the world's biggest stories, from the civil uprising in Syria to the plight of the poor in America. She'll produce network specials and pieces for NBC Nightly News, Dateline, Rock Center— and Today— and she'll occasionally fill in as anchor on Nightly News and elsewhere.
While she describes her new job as one that any journalist would crave, she makes no secret that the very public process that pushed her out of the co-host chair amid rumor-fed headlines has left wounds.
"I don't know who has been behind the leaks, but no question they've hurt deeply," she says. She admits she would have liked more time to work things out as co-host, and she bristles a bit at the suggestion that she lacked "chemistry" with co-host Matt Lauer.
"You know, Matt and I have had great on-air chemistry for 14 years, been part of the No. 1 winning team for a history-making number of years," she says. "That said, I just finished my freshman year as co-host. In every single co-host's first year, there have been kinks to be worked out, and perhaps I deserve as much blame for that as anyone."
Does she think she was given enough time to work out those kinks? "No, I do not," she says flatly.
Would she have liked more time? "Oh, sure I would have," she says.
Curry rejects the notion she's responsible for the ratings slip that threatens Today's long dominance on morning TV, though last week New York Times writer Mike Hale wrote an article examining the idea it was "Ms. Curry's fault" because of a perceived lack of warmth and ease.

Ann Curry is taking on a new challenge at NBC News, she announced Thursday morning.
"Today is going to be my last morning as a regular co-host of TODAY," she said. "I will still be a part of the TODAY show family, but I'm going to have a new title and a new role."
As TODAY Anchor at Large and National and International Correspondent for NBC News, Curry will lead a new team covering stories spanning the globe. She'll anchor prime-time specials and report for TODAY, Nightly News, Rock Center, Dateline and MSNBC, and will have a major presence across all digital properties.
"We're going to go all over the world and all over this country at a time where this country and this world needs clarity," she said.
"After all these years I don't even know if I can sleep in anymore," she joked.

Over 15 years at NBC News, Ann has covered violence and ethnic cleansing in Sudan, interviewed the Dalai Lama, reported from Japan after 2011's devastating earthquake and tsunami and broke the news that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would release the two American hikers held hostage in that country for two years. She has earned seven Emmy Awards.
"I know of only one journalist who in just a matter of years has travelled to Sudan six times, broken exclusive world news with top world leaders, and broadcast live from both the South Pole and Mount Kilimanjaro," said TODAY Executive Producer Jim Bell. "Ann has quite literally reached amazing heights in her career, and with this new role, she will continue her intrepid climb bringing viewers her signature brand of humanitarian reporting."

After six years together, it looks like the Holmes-Cruise relationship is over. Holmes cited "irreconcilable differences" on her divorce papers which is fancy talk for, "I married a crazy man."
According to sources close to the matter, Katie Holmes was worried about Tom Cruise's involvement with the Church of Scientology and what this would mean for the couple's 6-year-old-daughter, Suri.
Holmes filed for sole custody of Suri, but Cruise is expected to counter this when he files for divorce in California. Since the two are not official residents of New York City, Tom hopes to have a strong case in California.
This is Tom's third divorce. He was also married to Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman. Strangely enough, all three women were 33 when the marriages ended. The papers have been filed, but the divorce isn't necessarily a sure thing — well, at least in Tom's eyes. According to its website, the Church of Scientology does not recognize the concept of divorce.

Traditional Ming Dynasty-Style Garden Art in New York
It's a sad fact; many Hollywood marriages end in divorce. Last week Katie Holmes filed for divorce after 5 years of marriage to Tom Cruise.
From ancient times to present-day, gardens have served a key role in the culture and identity of societies.
The Ming Dynasty—which started in 1368—has been widely attributed as the pinnacle of classical Chinese garden art.
These famous Ming Dynasty-style gardens can be found in the City of Suzhou in China's southeast Jiangsu province. Today, some of these classical gardens are World Heritage Sites.
Here in New York—nestled within the Staten Island Botanical Garden—is an authentic, but modern built, Chinese scholar's garden.
[Dr. Ron Altman, NY Chinese Scholar's Garden Representative Board Member]:
"This is a Ming-style garden, basically from middle of the Ming period to the end of the Ming period."
It is a miniature compared to some in Suzhou.
[Lynn Kelly, Snug-Harbor Cultural Center, Botanical Garden President & CEO]:
"We're the first scholar's garden in the United States. It's about one acre in size, and it's located here at Snug Harbor Cultural Center in Staten Island."
The New York Chinese Scholar's Garden shows the characteristics of traditional Ming-style Chinese gardens.
Winding garden paths are paved with pebbles—leading to waterfalls—and ponds with colorful fish. Rocks, bamboo, pine, and plum trees—and a diverse variety of plants—are specially selected for their shape, seasonal character, and symbolic meaning.
But not everyone in China could experience these gardens.
[Dr. Ron Altman, NY Chinese Scholar's Garden Representative Board Member]:
"This will be a reflection of the rich Chinese lifestyle. The peasant would probably never have anything like this. The scholar's garden is also a pun on words because they're scholars but they're first rich bureaucrats."
These wealthy, educated Chinese designed the gardens as peaceful havens for retreat.
[Dr. Ron Altman, NY Chinese Scholar's Garden Representative Board Member]:
"This would be an inner courtyard of the housing complex. At that point the retired bureaucrat tried to become a scholar again, and he'd study, he'd do his calligraphy, his paintings, his poetry, and he'd live here with his extended family."
Altman sees Chinese scholar's garden as traditional art form worth protecting.
[Dr. Ron Altman, NY Chinese Scholar's Garden Representative Board Member]:
"This is basically an art form that the Chinese design back in the Ming period we do not want to lose—because I think it's the same as any other art form."
For one visitor in particular, the garden serves as a venue for art.
[Dr. Ron Altman, NY Chinese Scholar's Garden Representative Board Member]:
"He comes here usually three, four times a week with his flute...This gave him a chance just to relax and to go back to his roots, he (the Chinese man) said. He has three four different flutes and he plays different flutes at different times of the day."
Altman says, even in our modern society, one needs a place to unwind—just like those ancient wealthy Chinese scholars.
