Celebrations to mark the first anniversary of the launch of the Somali National Television Station in Mogadishu quickly turned tragic when an explosion killed eight people including the president of Somalia's Olympic committee and the Somali soccer federation chief. Elsewhere, the body of a woman who had been missing for two weeks was discovered in her kitchen in Naivasha, leading to angry protests by residents.
