Nigerian police raids anger local Muslims

Following last Friday's attack that left 185 people in Kano state dead, Nigerian police raided a house in the northern state looking for members of Boko Haram, the Islamist armed group thought to be behind the attacks.

Tuesday's raid led to an hours-long gun battle with police, with family members claiming that a husband and wife were among those shot and killed by police gunfire, and denying that they had any part in last week's attack.

Locals say that authorities are unfairly targeting the most devout Muslims of the community.

Al Jazeera's Yvonne Ndege reports from Kano.
