Local Business Ponder Raising Pricing After Saying Goodbye to the HST

VIEW ROYAL -- At least one business is open and honest about its plans.

Joseph's Coffee House opened after the HST came into effect. The owner says she hasn't raised her prices since but will April 1st 2013. She feels her customers won't mind as the price they will pay will be the same in the end.

Other businesses say they will not raise prices.

The Westshore Chamber of Commerce warns that people may not like paying 7 percent more when they know the HST is no more. It wonders if the market can continue to bear the current costs.

BBC News - Elderly US woman lands plane after pilot-husband dies 2012

An 80-year-old US woman with little flying experience has staged an emergency landing in Wisconsin after her pilot husband collapsed and died.

Helen Collins remained calm as she brought the small Cessna plane in to land at Cherryland Airport, even though she said she knew her husband was dead.

She had taken basic lessons in taking off and landing 30 years ago, her son told the Associated Press news agency.

BBC News - Greek clashes after pensioner suicide 2012

Protesters have clashed with riot police in Athens hours after a pensioner shot himself dead outside the Greek parliament.

The man, named in the Greek media as 77-year-old Dimitris Christoulas, killed himself in the city's busy Syntagma Square on Wednesday morning.

In a suicide note reported by Greek media, he accused the government of reducing his pension to nothing.

US flight diverted after pilot is restrained

The captain went to a toilet just outside the cockpit, and when he emerged began shouting "Iraq, al-Qaeda, terrorism, we're all going down!" according to the Amarillo Globe-News newspaper.

"It was a little scary. He was pretty freaked out," passenger Heidi Karg told a US network.

"When they were trying to calm him down... they had to restrain him and a bunch of male passengers ran to the front of the plane to subdue him."

The FBI is investigating the incident on Flight 191 from New York, which had 135 passengers on board, when the pilot-in-command decided to redirect the plane to Amarillo, Texas.

JetBlue said in a statement the flight was diverted due to a "medical situation" involving the captain, but made no mention of any commotion on board.
