US Republican hopefuls prepare for Florida

The victory by former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, in the South Carolina primary, has left the race for the Republican presidential nomination wide open.

Gingrich is citing a strong desire for economic growth, plus irritation at the "establishment", particularly the media, as the reason for his victory.

As the battle moves to Florida, Gingrich will be looking to consolidate his win to prove he is a candidate who can beat President Obama, but Florida is not South Carolina.

Mitt Romney has maintained his lead in Florida polls but that may change after South Carolina, what he does have is the cash and the strong campaign team that Gingrich lacks.

Al Jazeera's John Terret reports from Washington.
