OAK BAY -- Vancouver Island musicians will get a rare opportunity to perform for one of the music industry's most successful producers. Today, local acts auditioned for the chance to play during the David Foster Foundation's Miracle Weekend.

Almost 90 musicians applied for the opportunity and 29 were shortlisted.

The panel of six judges included the owners of the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, who are hosting the event, the heads of the Canadian College of Performing Arts, and Duncan Meiklejohn, who's performed with David Foster.

They are looking for 8-12 musicians to perform throughout the Miracle Weekend at various private and public events.

The David Foster Foundation's Miracle weekend begins May 25th. You can find out full details -- and purchase tickets -- by visiting http://www.davidfostermiracleconcert.com/.
