US man undergoes full face transplant
Fifteen years after gunshot wounds left him permanently disfigured, a US man has been given a new face, in what doctors have hailed to be the most extensive face transplant ever attempted.
Richard Norris was accidentally shot in the face almost 15 years ago. Although he survived the incident, he has been hiding behind a mask ever since, too ashamed to show what is left of his face.
Norris underwent surgery at the University of Maryland where surgeons performed a full face transplant.
Other than the new face, which was provided by an anonymous donor, surgeons also gave Norris a new tongue, teeth and jaw in the 36-hour operation.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey website and wire reports, what was going on, was a 5.9-magnitude quake that struck about 34 miles west of Richmond, Virginia, sending tremors up the coast to D.C., Philly and New York.
And to that one Tweeter who felt President Obama was conspicuous by his absence in the capital, hold your horses. The president and his family, vacationing on Martha's Vineyard, might have even felt a little shaking, along with those living in parts of Rhode Island and Vermont. Yep, the tremors reached all the way up there, and out west to parts of West Virginia and Ohio. Airports grounded East Coast-bound flights, though Philly International is back up and running after being closed briefly to inspect whether there was damage to the runways.
Those D.C. seemed to be the most shaken up -- literally -- being so close to the epicenter of the quake. Communications were down, too, as emergency switchboards were jammed with people calling to ask just what the heck was going on.
In New York, several buildings were evacuated. Wobbling was felt in some of the taller buildings, according to reports, and people seemed more than just a little put out by the phenomenon.
"Sitting through earthquakes -- not my job description," one New Yorker groused on Facebook.
So far, there are no reports of injuries or damages in Philly or New York. In Philly, the Comcast Center is closed and all City Council employees sent home for the day, and SEPTA is running behind schedule (usually don't need an earthquake for that to happen). Mayor Nutter gave the all-clear for city workers to resume their duties and there WILL be baseball tonight at Citizens' Bank Park.
Things seem to be going back to normal in New York, too. In D.C., where the quake hit hardest, there are several reports of injuries, but nothing life-threatening. The USGS says to expect aftershocks, but they likely won't be anywhere close to the scale of what was experienced on Tuesday.
The biggest concern in D.C., at this point, is the lag time in getting in touch with someone the old-fashioned way -- on the phone. A D.C. Facebooker complained that she could not reach her mother to let her know she was all right because she could not get a signal to her cellphone. But it was all right -- her mother was one of her Facebook friends and left a smiley face and a "Whew!" on her daughter's wall to let her know the message had been received.

Justice for Trayvon! Congressman Bobby Rush dons hoody in protest for justice
WASHINGTON — (C-SAPN.org) Congressman Bobby L. Rush (D-IL) delivered the following statement on the House floor today to emphasize the issue of racial profiling and its consequences:
Mr. Speaker, the death of Trayvon Martin is an American tragedy.
Too often this violent act is repeated in the streets of our nation.
Racial profiling has to stop. Just because someone wears a hoodie, does not make them a hoodlum. Just because someone is young and wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum. Just because someone is a young black male and wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum.
A hood on the head does not mean a hood in the head.
I applaud the young people across this nation who are making a statement about hoodies and the real hoodlums particularly those who tread on our laws wearing official or quasi-official cloaks.
The Bible teaches us in Micah 6:6-8, these words, "He has showed you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?"
And in the New Testament, Luke 4:18-20 teaches us these words: "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim the good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free."
I urge all who hear these words to heed this lesson. May God bless Trayvon Martin's soul, his parents and family, and may God bless us all.

Oklahoma State Senator Ralph Shortey hopes to stop Pepsi from using aborted fetus cells in soda flavoring research through his proposed legislation. He opposes the use of aborted embryonic cells to create "isolated human taste receptors, and hopes to discourage the research before it becomes common practice. The media has been all over the story of the NY Times hypocrisy in favoring Islam while criticizing Catholism. Mark Steyn at NRO here, Daily Caller here, Volokh here, Business Insider here, Human Events here, Catholic Online here, the uber-left, Soros-funded Think Progess is in a tizzy. You will notice that in the Think Progress piece they never mention the anti-Catholic ad or Times inconsistency. But they could not have missed them as those are the central aspects of the story. So they know. This proves that Think Progess intentionally misleads its readership. The New York Times Rejects Anti-Muslim Advertisement makes it sound as if Geller just wanted to run an anti-Islam ad out of racistislamophbicantimuslimbigotry.
I have been inundated with interviews all morning on shows all over the country and a few from Europe. And so when FOX news called, I was unable to make it to the studio, but I was able to fit in the phone interview in this video. Note FOX's take on the story. They do not address the motive, the fear, the sharia behind the New York Times' craven hypocrisy. Instead they focused on the inconsistency of the Times accepting one ad and rejecting another, without clearly explaining why or the reasons for explaining the reasons for the inconsistency which accords with FOX's increasing tendency not to address this subject matter at all.?

New York Times accused of Catholic bashing, double standard on religion FOX News, Published March 15, 2012 The New York Times is being accused of having a double standard when it comes to questioning religion, after it ran an ad calling on Catholics to leave their church, but nixed a nearly identical ad aimed at Muslims. The newspaper published an ad from Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation on March 9 which asked Catholics, "why send your children to parochial schools to be indoctrinated into the next generation of obedient donors and voters?" The ad went on to call loyalty to the faith misplaced "after two decades of sex scandals involving preying priests, church complicity, collusion and cover-up going all the way to the top." But when Pamela Geller, a blogger and executive director of the American Freedom Defense Initiative and Stop Islamization of America, offered the same $39,000 for the Old Gray Lady to run an ad making a similar appeal to Muslims, the newspaper passed. "This shows the hypocrisy of The New York Times, the "gold standard" in journalism, and its willingness to kowtow to violent Islamic supremacist intimidation," Geller told FoxNews.com. Geller said her anti-Shariah ad was designed to mimic the anti-Catholic. In calling on Muslims to quit their religion, the ad asked "Why put up with an institution that dehumanizes women and non-Muslims ... [do] you keep identifying with the ideology that threatens liberty for women and menaces freedom by slaughtering, oppressing and subjugating non-Muslims... Join those of us who put humanity above the vengeful, hateful and violent teachings of Islam's 'prophet.'"

The "Million Hoodie March", which wasn't a million and most didn't wear hoodies, was held in Union Square in NYC March 21, 2012. Several hundred people showed up to demand justice for Trayvon Martin, the unarmed 17 year old A student who was shot by George Zimmerman for no good reason. The police in Sanford, Florida accepted Zimmerman's bogus claims of self defense without investigation.
By my own rough count and the estimation of other news outlets there were several hundred people there. Sean Hennessey, the reporter who was covering the event for CBS New York, kept saying there were a few dozen people there. Many in the crowd corrected him, but he persisted in a particularly douche-y fashion.

Tim Tebow has been traded to the New York Jets by the Denver Broncos. The news comes just one day after Peyton Manning signed with the Denver Broncos.
Fox Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer broke the story on Wednesday on Twitter. The Jets traded their fourth- and sixth-round drafts picks in exchange for the young, polarizing quarterback from the University of Florida.
The proposed deal brings into question Mark Sanchez's role as the team's starting quarterback. The Jets extended his contract less than two weeks ago, quelling rumors that the front office was looking to can the inconsistent Sanchez in favor of Manning. But with Tebow coming to town, talk of a New York quarterback controversy have been renewed.
Some analysts actually see the two field generals coexisting. Tebow excels at running the ball and could be utilized in Tony Sparano's wildcat formations.

Pamela Geller on FOX News Discussing NY TImes Hypocrisy
The media has been all over the story of the NY Times hypocrisy in favoring Islam while criticizing Catholism. Mark Steyn at NRO here, Daily Caller here, Volokh here, Business Insider here, Human Events here, Catholic Online here, the uber-left, Soros-funded Think Progess is in a tizzy. You will notice that in the Think Progress piece they never mention the anti-Catholic ad or Times inconsistency. But they could not have missed them as those are the central aspects of the story. So they know. This proves that Think Progess intentionally misleads its readership. The New York Times Rejects Anti-Muslim Advertisement makes it sound as if Geller just wanted to run an anti-Islam ad out of racistislamophbicantimuslimbigotry.
I have been inundated with interviews all morning on shows all over the country and a few from Europe. And so when FOX news called, I was unable to make it to the studio, but I was able to fit in the phone interview in this video. Note FOX's take on the story. They do not address the motive, the fear, the sharia behind the New York Times' craven hypocrisy. Instead they focused on the inconsistency of the Times accepting one ad and rejecting another, without clearly explaining why or the reasons for explaining the reasons for the inconsistency which accords with FOX's increasing tendency not to address this subject matter at all.?

New York Times accused of Catholic bashing, double standard on religion FOX News, Published March 15, 2012 The New York Times is being accused of having a double standard when it comes to questioning religion, after it ran an ad calling on Catholics to leave their church, but nixed a nearly identical ad aimed at Muslims. The newspaper published an ad from Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation on March 9 which asked Catholics, "why send your children to parochial schools to be indoctrinated into the next generation of obedient donors and voters?" The ad went on to call loyalty to the faith misplaced "after two decades of sex scandals involving preying priests, church complicity, collusion and cover-up going all the way to the top." But when Pamela Geller, a blogger and executive director of the American Freedom Defense Initiative and Stop Islamization of America, offered the same $39,000 for the Old Gray Lady to run an ad making a similar appeal to Muslims, the newspaper passed. "This shows the hypocrisy of The New York Times, the "gold standard" in journalism, and its willingness to kowtow to violent Islamic supremacist intimidation," Geller told FoxNews.com. Geller said her anti-Shariah ad was designed to mimic the anti-Catholic. In calling on Muslims to quit their religion, the ad asked "Why put up with an institution that dehumanizes women and non-Muslims ... [do] you keep identifying with the ideology that threatens liberty for women and menaces freedom by slaughtering, oppressing and subjugating non-Muslims... Join those of us who put humanity above the vengeful, hateful and violent teachings of Islam's 'prophet.'"

"There are $90 billion in sales a year in gift cards. That is a huge number," says CardCash.com Vice President of Research Liz Luke.
According to the National Retail Federation, gift cards have been the number one requested item for the past five years. This year, roughly 58 percent of consumers said they would like to receive one, and eight out of 10 shoppers plan to give them.

One Direction fans in the United States -- you have spoken up about what you want and now you're getting it. The guys just announced that they're going on tour, and while you might be thinking 'oh yeah, they're already on tour with Big Time Rush,' the new news is that 1D is getting its own tour... as in the members will be headlining. News headlines: Bolton Wanderers footballer Fabrice Muamba is in a stable condition in hospital after collapsing on the pitch during an FA Cup quarter final match.
Muamba, the Bolton Wanderers midfielder, fell to the ground suddenly - 41 minutes into the game against Tottenham Hotspur, at White Hart Lane, which was on live television.
No other players were near him at the time.
The match was abandoned as both teams' doctors spent ten minutes treating him on the pitch in front of around 35,000 fans.
Muamba, 23, was taken to a north London hospital, where a spokesman said he is now in a stable condition.
Reporters at the game said he was not breathing as he was stretchered off the pitch and into an ambulance.
As he fell to the ground, Bolton manager Owen Coyle ran on to the pitch to see what had happened. Coyle and club captain Kevin Davies went with him to hospital.
Other players gathered round and Rafael van der Vaart, the Dutch Spurs player, and others prayed while doctors treated him.
Fans chanted Muamba's name, while many were in tears.
Several minutes after play stopped because of Muamba's collapse, Howard Webb, the referee, ordered the players off the pitch and fans were told the game had been abandoned.
Ian Dennis, of BBC 5Live, said spectators could see that a defibrillator was being used on the footballer.
He said: "You had a situation which was very eerie. Obviously everybody could see that Fabrice Muamba was fighting for his life out on the pitch. Supporters of both sides were chanting his name."
The scene recalled memories of Cameroon's Marc Vivien-Foe, 28, who collapsed and died during a Confederations Cup match against Colombia, in Lyon, in 2003.
Phil O'Donnell, 35, the Motherwell midfielder, died after collapsing during a Scottish Premier League match against Dundee United in December 2007.
Muamba was born in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
His father, Marcel, fled to the UK in 1994 - having been an adviser to President Mobutu Sese Seko - and was given indefinite leave to remain in 1999, when the rest of his family joined him in Walthamstow, east London.
The player, who has represented England at every level, from under 16 to 21, was 11 when he came to the UK and could not speak English.
He went on however to earn 10 GCSEs as well as A-levels in French, maths and English. Off the pitch he enjoys listening to opera music.
On his Twitter account he describes himself as a "proud dad" to Joshua Jeremiah, his child with Shauna Magunda, to whom he became engaged on Valentine's Day .
He joined Arsenal in 2002, having supported the team as a child in Congo, and became a professional in 2005.
The following year he joined Birmingham, first on loan, and then on a permanent basis following a £4 million deal. In 2008, he joined Bolton for £5 million, and now lives in Cheshire.
Fans said silence descended over the ground as it became clear how serious the situation was.
Paul Bowman, 53, a Tottenham fan from London Colney, Hertfordshire, said: "The player went down with no-one near him. He just collapsed."
Mr Bowman, who was at the match with his three children, added: "The other players saw immediately that this looked bad. We could see they were trying to resuscitate him. Everyone was in shock. We all watched and waited.
"All the support staff and substitutes were on the pitch. Fans from both teams were chanting Muamba's name."
"The players were in shock. No-one wanted it to go on.
"It was eerie coming out of the ground. No-one was saying anything. There was hush, a silence. No-one could quite believe it. It was terrible."
Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba is in a stable condition in a north London hospital, after collapsing during his side's FA Cup quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur.
The midfielder received CPR and electric shock treatment to resuscitate him after he suffered a suspected heart attack during Saturday's match.
He suddenly collapsed in the 41st minute in an off-the-ball incident and was treated for over five minutes on the pitch, to the distress of players and supporters.
Resuscitation was being carried out as he was taken off the pitch.
Spurs and Bolton fans chanted his name in unison, whilst other supporters, saddened by the trauma, wept.
Referee Howard Webb took both sets of players off in light of Muamba's condition, and the game was called off.
Live broadcasters ESPN opted not to show the medical staff treat the 23-year-old out of respect to the procedure.
